What to know about your First Clinical Trial Pre-Screening appointment in Paris, TX
What is a research screening?
At our Paris, TX clinic, a clinical trial pre-screening visit happens before you are enrolled in a paid research study. This visit will consist of some tests to verify you are a good candidate for the study. Each study has different requirements for screening visits. On average, a screening visit can last between 1 and 4 hours.
Our on-site staff will always call you the day before your appointment to go over any specific instructions required by the study sponsor for your screening visit.
Here's what to expect at your clinical trial pre-screening visit in Paris, TX:
- We will scan your photo ID and have you sign a consent form to be treated.
- Our site staff will bring you back and you will be given time to read over the informed consent document. This will have details regarding the schedule, and procedures that will be performed.
- Prior to your agreement to participate Dr. Tapia will come in and answer any questions you have and will sign the consent form with you.
- Our staff will obtain a detailed medical history from you, and go over all medications/supplements, and surgical history.
- We will perform vital sign tests (blood pressure, temperature, weight, and height). Depending on the study you are screening for, an EKG and/or a Pulmonary Function Test will also be completed.
- All assessments will be reviewed by Dr. Tapia and our offices will send medical labs off the same day. Dr. Tapia will determine if you qualify for the clinical trial after all results are back.
Once all procedures are complete, we will schedule a tentative appointment for you to come back in for Randomization (official enrollment in the study).
